MotionIQ™ · Pitcher stride length

Free velocity nobody is coaching.
Because nobody is measuring it.

315 professional pitchers were measured in a peer-reviewed study (Manzi et al. 2021, Journal of Sports Sciences): every 10% more stride length added roughly 2 mph of pitching velocity — with zero added stress on the elbow. The clinical standard is a stride of ~85% of your height (Fleisig's group, Sports Health 2022). Most amateur pitchers we scan sit under 75%. That gap is free velocity that nobody is coaching because nobody is measuring it.

Honest caveat: a longer stride only adds velo if the front leg can brace it. Force-plate + MotionIQ block leg data first — then train the stride. Measurement before prescription.

Workload & Structural Risk Analysis

The physics your program is already paying for.
Now measured, dashboarded, and defensible.

Physics baseline
60 lb dumbbell · 7,000°/sec · every fastball

Every time a high-school pitcher fires a fastball, the elbow experiences forces equivalent to hanging a 60-pound dumbbell from the joint and snapping it open at 7,000 degrees per second. A 100-pitch bullpen stacks thousands of pounds of distraction stress across the UCL. Over a travel-ball season the arm absorbs more structural trauma than a car crash — while most programs treat recovery as an optional post-game stretch.

Athletic Directors
Protecting the bottom line + mitigating liability
The risk
Tommy John surgeries and shoulder rebuilds routinely cost $30k–$50k per athlete, plus lost scholarship value and insurance exposure.
The solution
Shift from reactive surgical spend to proactive throw-count + joint-stress monitoring across the entire pitching staff.
Athletic Trainers
Managing micro-trauma + preventing season-ending tears
The risk
Cumulative UCL distraction stress accumulates as invisible micro-tears; the acute pop happens on a routine 60-pitch outing.
The solution
MotionIQ pose capture + workload ledger flags asymmetries and volume spikes so the arm is protected days before the injury day.
Strength & Conditioning / Sports Science
Quantifying force + building structural resilience
The risk
Programming eccentric shoulder + core work without knowing the actual pitch-day load leaves the arm structurally under-prepared for the season it just entered.
The solution
Align S&C blocks with the real rotational and distraction forces logged on the mound; recovery is prescribed by force output, not calendar.
Coaching Staff
Maximizing availability + competitive readiness
The risk
Bullpen decisions built on gut lose starters in September when it matters most.
The solution
Pitch-count + readiness dashboards let the coach ride the horse today without mortgaging the rest of the roster tomorrow.
